Sticker Competition : Winner

The winner of our sticker competition is this man, seen here sporting a Cardifferent sticker on BBC Question Time a few nights ago, in front of an average viewing audience of 2.8 million. Thanks to everybody else who entered, including those of you who sent your photos in via email – in the end we couldn’t help feel that the TV appearance trumped all the laptops and lampposts, but we fully enjoyed checking them all out.

Been getting a lot of compliments on our hand-rendered packaging style recently, particularly from the woman down at the post office, so we thought we’d share some with you. We were printing our customer addresses for a while there, which can look good if you get the font right, but we eventually decided that there’s no substitute for the personal touch. And what with all the little extras we include in the packages these days, I think it’s fair to say that our packaging game has come on in leaps and bounds since the early days.

Put this one together last night. Pleased to see that the Generation Vexed t-shirt has been selling well since its release. Quite a few people thought it was too negative when we first showed them the design, but we always figured it could be taken in more ways than one. Glad we went with it.

Daddison

It’s always good to get new artists on board, especially when it’s someone who’s work you’ve been admiring for a while. Bristol based artist, Daddison, who contributed the only out-of-house piece of artwork to the latest range, is definitely one of those. I first became aware of him through his artwork for various nights on the Bristol music scene, and was buzzing when I checked out his blog for the first time. His t-shirt design for Cardifferent (which you can see by clicking here – it’s the one with all the circles) is probably the most abstract piece of artwork we’ve ever printed (the circles spell ‘Cardifferent’, in case you hadn’t spotted it), which was always going to make it niche. Good thing about niche though is that you know the people who are going like it are probably going to really like it, so it makes it all worthwhile.

Sightings

Came across these two gems yesterday whilst diggin’ about in my hard drive. The top one is a screen grab of the writer and comedian Griff Rhys Jones rocking a white-on-black All Caps Original on a recent panel show for the comedy channel Dave, and the bottom one is a screen grab of a different Gruff Rhys, lead singer of The Super Furry Animals, during a channel 4 interview in London. I stayed over his flat in Camden once, on my way to Italy. He’s got some sick artwork on his walls.

Last of the promo posters in the series. Thanks to everybody who’s been hitting us up with positive feedback; three of the five are due to be printed as flyers tomorrow, with a couple of wall posters to follow. Big thanks to Daddy’s Got Sweets for the House Sound of Cardiff image, and Cardiff Before Cardiff for the photo of the old betting shop.
